JCYFA Cheerleading FAQs

Q: What does the registration fee cover?
A: Uniforms/Poms, insurance, practice & game facilities, equipment, cheer supplies, program administration & operations, fundraising, referees, league fees, and year-end trophies, etc.

Q: Does the City of Johns Creek or Fulton County help out?
A: No. Many other youth programs like Alpharetta, Roswell, Sharon Springs, Sandy Springs, etc, get support from their City or County. However, JCYFA has tried to get support/resources from the City of Johns Creek and Fulton County however nothing is available. Leagues such as JCYFA are formed and run by volunteers.

Q: What are the time commitments for practice and days?

A: Practice is 1 hour a week for 8-10 weeks and 1 game a week (Grades K-2 aprox 1 hour & Grades 3-5 aprox 2 hours).

Q: Where are most practices held?
A: Practices are held at local schools.

Q: When do practices start?
A: Practice starts early August (the week before school begins).

Q: Where are the games held?
A: Home Games are usually located at NVHS or JCHS; most Away Games are at local schools (Chattahoochee, Lassiter, Centennial, Kings Ridge, Mount Pisgah, Sandy Springs) - we typically have 4 home games and 4 away games.

Q: Are games only on Saturdays and is it every Saturday?
A: Yes, the season starts on the last Saturday in August, then we have Labor Day weekend off, and then resume for 7 straight Saturdays.  After that, we have 2-3 weeks of playoffs and championship games. In rare circumstances there could be games on another day if we have a weather make-up day or a playoff play-in game.

Q: How many cheer squads are there?
A: That is determined by the final registration numbers. There are two teams: Gladiators which are Maroon/Gold (reflects Johns Creek HS) and Titans which are Navy/Silver/White (reflects Northview HS).

Q: Is there any involvement with the high school cheerleaders? Are there Cheer Camps?
A: Yes. If interested, there are optional summer cheer camps conducted by both Johns Creek High School and Northview High School. These camps are a great way for our cheerleaders to learn fundamentals such as motions, jumps, cheers, chants and stunting.  Camps are usually held in July or August and costs are typically $100-$175.

Your future cheerleader deserves the excellent training that Johns Creek Competition and Sideline Cheerleaders can provide.  With our seven-year winning tradition, you can trust that the 24 hours of JCHS Mini Camp will provide your child with safe and excellent instruction in this very competitive sport.  Do you have questions about training your child for a future in high school or college cheerleading?  We are there to help you every step of the way.

All children age 4 (by the first day of camp) to 12 are welcome, regardless of their high school attendance zone.

Thank you for supporting our JCHS Cheerleaders, too.  The proceeds from camp will hopefully allow us to purchase new sideline uniforms. (They are still wearing the same ones since the school opened in 2009!) By sending your child to our Mini Camp, you are helping us achieve that goal.

Summer is right around the corner!  If you have any questions about registration, please contact Coach Patrick Wright at
